Ange-Marie Hancock Alfaro (AMHA*) is Chair of the Gender Studies Program at the University of Southern California. Since moving back to California in 2008 she has worked with activists in the marriage equality, economic justice, immigrant rights, Black equity, and women of color movements here in Los Angeles as a trainer and ally.  Her recent collaborative work includes service on the Community Funding Board of the Liberty Hill Foundation and work with both Hispanas Organized for Political Empowerment (HOPE) and the Los Angeles African American Women’s Public Policy Institute (LAAAWPPI). She has been active in various movements since celebrating her 14th birthday at the 20th anniversary of the March on Washington. She is the first African-American female full professor in USC Dornsife and a popular commentator on KPCC-FM and KCAL/KCBS.
